A little more for grown-ups.
The practical bits about the books, and about this website.
What the books are
Each book is a semi-colouring adventure: a story told across illustrated pages, left for children to colour as they read.
Where to begin
- The Barmy Breakfast Boys, the original adventure
- The Sugar Scrunch Swap
- Journey to Sugar Mountain
- The Brilliant Brunch Bunch
Those three make up the Sugar Scrunch Trilogy. Then come the seasonal specials: The Pumpkin Grumble for Halloween and The Candy Cane Elf for Christmas.
What’s inside
Each book introduces the heroes and the new faces, then tells the story across 24 pages to colour. Every one finishes with a page to draw your favourite part of the story, and a certificate to fill in.
Crayons and coloured pencils work best. If you use felt tips, slip a piece of card behind the page.
A reminder from the boys
Eat a balanced breakfast, stay active, be kind, and always believe in yourself!

The Barmy Breakfast Boys books are created by Jake Longson and Matt Armstrong.
Good questions.
Quick answers for busy grown-ups.
Is it a storybook or a colouring book?
A bit of both. Follow the characters’ adventures, then add colour to the illustrated pages.
Do we need to read them in order?
The original adventure introduces the heroes and Breakfast City, so it’s the best place to start. The Sugar Scrunch Trilogy follows on from it, then the Halloween and Christmas specials.
Can we colour on this website?
Yes. The Breakfast City picture on the colouring page works with a mouse, touch or keyboard. No account is needed.
Where can we buy the books?
All six are available in paperback from Amazon UK. Each book’s page has a link.
